Clean water is a product of the wastewater treatment process. This water called effluent is currently discharged into the Willamette River.
New technology will be on-line at the Tri-City plant in late 2010 that will create the highest class of effluent water recognized by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.
Numerous beneficial reuse options exist for this water including commercial, irrigation, and recreational.
Water Environment Services, on behalf of the Tri-City Service District is evaluating alternatives and community attitudes regarding potential water reuse practices.
