One of the products of the wastewater treatment process is methane gas (biogas). Tri-City uses this biogas to produce electricity and heat for various plant processes.
New technology coming soon will create the highest class of treated wastewater recognized by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.
Clean water is a product of the wastewater treatment process. This water called effluent is currently discharged into the Willamette River.
